Since the grand opening of the Five Knolls masterplanned community on Sept. 26, the impact of road openings and mixed open space has had a positive affect on the community, according to Five Knolls officials.
The 1.2-mile new Golden Valley Road extension – created as part of Five Knolls – establishes a long-sought connection from Newhall Ranch Road to Bouquet Canyon via Plum Canyon.
Golden Valley Park in Five Knolls is a new, five-acre public park mixing open spaces with social gathering spots. It includes picnic areas, a shaded playground, basketball half-court and big and small dog park.
Five Knolls has added 2 miles of new bike lanes and pedestrian/multi-use trails. These include “dedicated” bike lanes separated from traffic that are safest for drivers, pedestrians and bike-riders. These connect to the approximately 70 miles of trails in the surrounding areas. Five Knolls also offers approximately 1 mile of new walking trails within the community.
Five Knolls has six new neighborhoods, offering fresh floorplans that respond to the needs of residents with features such as indoor-outdoor living spaces, flexible designs that include bonus rooms and optional bedrooms or storage areas, and two- and three-car garages.
New Golden Valley Park links to 2 miles of new bike lanes and pedestrian/multi-use trails in Santa Clarita and another mile of walking trails within the community.
Five Knolls is the new 247-acre, master planned community by Brookfield Residential. It is set amidst five signature knolls overlooking the Santa Clarita Valley. The 494 homes in Five Knolls are built by Brookfield Residential and four additional award-winning homebuilders. Brookfield Residential also created the Golden Valley Road extension, Golden Valley Park and the other improvements accompanying Five Knolls.
The Golden Valley Road extension to Bouquet Canyon Road creates a faster, more direct route to destinations across the Santa Clarita Valley, including shopping, dining, entertainment, schools and employment.
“The Golden Valley Road extension makes life easier, and Golden Valley Park makes life better,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean. “With the Grand Opening of Five Knolls, we now celebrate three major achievements. Each is a milestone in their own right. Together, they greatly enhance the quality of life and economic vitality of Santa Clarita.”
“Brookfield Residential is proud to have combined new neighborhoods and fresh floorplans with significant conveniences and infrastructure,” said Brookfield Residential Director of Marketing Alison Girard. “The response among homebuyers and the community at large has been absolutely positive.”

Although Santa Clarita is the third-largest city in Los Angeles County, with access to some of the finest recreation and employment opportunities in California, it retains its small-town values. For example, it was named number-three among the Top 10 Safest Cities in America 2014 by Parenting Magazine.
