The City of Santa Clarita will officially dedicate The MAIN, formerly the Repertory East Playhouse, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Old Town Newhall on Thursday, June 29 at 4 p.m.
The venue, located at 24266 Main Street, is a place for residents and visitors to enjoy music, comedy, film, theater and much more.
The City Council signed a three-year leasing agreement for the then-vacant Repertory East Playhouse in February 2017. As part of the Santa Clarita Arts Master Plan, which was adopted in March 2016, The MAIN gives the City a venue that is used as a community arts center while also allowing for outside productions to stage a variety of shows in the 81-seat theater.
Since the city assumed management of the space, The MAIN has been transformed into a multi-use arts center that includes a monthly rotating art gallery and free programs every Thursday night as part of the City’s Thursdays@Newhall series.
For details on upcoming Thursdays@Newhall events at The MAIN, including the popular 10 by 10 and Note by Note shows, visit ThursdaysAtNewhall.com.
During the ceremony, attendees will learn more about the history of The MAIN, as well as the vision for the theater to be the top arts and entertainment destination in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The brief program will begin following the official ribbon cutting ceremony outside the entrance to The MAIN.
Following the program, guests will be able to explore the art gallery in the lobby, a new exhibit by designer, illustrator and artist Mike Farrell.

Why is it this city finds it necessary to change it’s history and rename everything? I don’t understand.
