Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station takes great pride in providing the highest level of safety to our communities. A specialized operation was conducted to deter and prevent crimes in our city, specifically around our retail establishments.
The most recent operation executed last week focused around one of our city’s largest shopping regions–an area encompassing nearly 200 stores bordering McBean Parkway, Valencia Boulevard, and Magic Mountain Parkway.
Utilized for the operation were plain clothes personnel, surveillance personnel, unmarked patrol cars, and black and white patrol cars. As a result of the operation, ten people were arrested for a variety of offenses that ranged from narcotics (heroin, methamphetamine), domestic violence, to liquor laws and vehicle code violations.Through the ten arrests, there were also four outstanding arrest warrants cleared.
One traffic stop that deputies made in the area during the operation was on a Ford vehicle that resembled an ‘old police patrol car’ with no license plates (pictured above). Upon making contact with the two male adult occupants in the vehicle, neither one of them had identification and they told deputies they were from the Bakersfield area.
After extensive law enforcement data research, deputies discovered that both men were ‘wanted.’ The driver, who didn’t even have a driver’s license, had arrest warrants issued out of New Mexico and Texas. The passenger, was discovered to have had a six-count felony arrest warrant out of the state of Indiana for forgery and fraud-related crimes, with full extradition. He was additionally charged with being a ‘fugitive from justice’ since he crossed states lines to avoid prosecution in Indiana and is being held without bail.
The operation was so successful that station personnel are already planning to do another one. It’s a way that we can help ensure the safe atmosphere for our residents’ shopping experience and provide the highest level of service to our business owners.
