NORTHRIDGE, CA—With the start of the 2016 season less than a month away, CSUN Athletics has announced the promotional schedule for the 2016 CSUN Baseball season highlighted by the return of Little League Sundays, Matatude Tuesday and a Fan Fair held for the team’s Big West Conference opener.
The first promotional event of the season takes place at the Feb. 21 contest between the Matadors and CSU Bakersfield. The game is the fourth event in the Matador Passport series, which give fans the opportunity to receive exciting prizes by attending four Matador home events. Fans who have attended the men’s basketball, men’s volleyball and women’s basketball games from Feb. 18-20 can complete their passports at the baseball game on Feb. 21. The first 50 fans to complete their Matador Passports also receive a CSUN Baseball hat.
The Matadors will host Little League Sundays this season starting on Feb. 21. Little Leaguers ages 13 and under wearing their uniforms receive free admission to every Sunday home game. Also, they have the opportunity to join the team for the National Anthem prior to the contest and participate in a free baseball clinic on the field following the game.
Matatude Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 8 as the first 50 fans can swap another college’s shirt for a CSUN shirt. At the Big West Conference home opener on Friday Apr. 8 against Long Beach State, a Fan Fair event will take place with food, prizes and giveaways available to fans.
All Sports Day is scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 10 as children can take part in a CSUN student-athlete led sports clinic prior to the Matadors taking on Long Beach State.
Fans can also enjoy several giveaways during the season including a Bracelet Day (Feb. 26), CSUN Baseball Hat Day (Mar. 19), CSUN Brick-By-Brick Shirt Day (Apr. 9), Sunscreen Giveaway Presented by CSUN Dining (Apr. 23) and a CSUN Baseball Pennant Day (May 13).
Other promotions include Faculty & Staff Day on Friday, Mar. 11 with $3 admission offered to all CSUN staff, Think Pink Day held on Mother’s Day (May 8) and Senior Day on May 17 with individuals 55 and over receiving $1 admission to the Matadors’ final home game of the season. The Alumni Association will also hold an Alumni Fan Day on May 7.
General admission to all CSUN home games is free for CSUN students with a valid student ID and students can also join the University Student Union’s Red Rally student fan appreciation program to #RocktheRed and cheer the Matadors on all year long.
Individual game tickets are $8 apiece or $5 for youth, seniors, CSUN faculty and staff, military service members and CSUN Alumni Association members. More information is available at www.gomatadors.com/tickets.
