[TMC] – The Master’s College men’s basketball program and coach Chuck Martin announce the 2012-2013 recruiting class. This year’s class includes one point guard, three wings and two post players. Martin feels this class will dramatically help the team in two main areas that need to be addressed in the coming season: size and athleticism.

Korey Anderson: Anderson transfers to The Master’s College from Cal State San Marcos. The 6-feet-7-inch, 230-pound power forward provides an impressive resume that includes notable recognition as an All-Conference, All-City, and 2nd Team All-State selection by Cal Hoops/Hoop Review. Anderson averaged 19 points and 15 rebounds per game during his senior season at Clovis High School.

“Korey Anderson potentially represents what we have been looking for in a post player. We believe Korey will be able to score with his back to the basket and play on the perimeter like big men at The Master’s College are accustomed to,” Martin said.

Anderson enters The Master’s College with three years of eligibility remaining.

Monice Garrett: Monice Garrett joins The Master’s College after transferring from The University of Northern Colorado. The 5-9, 160-pound point guard led Westbury Christian to three Texas State Championships during his high school career.

“We believe Monice Garrett provides TMC with excellent athleticism and a pass-first mentality to the point guard position,” Martin said. “Monice has always been a point guard that brings out the best in his teammates and they enjoy playing with him because of his unselfishness and tough mindedness defensively.”

Jason Logan: After competing at Antelope Valley Community College for two seasons, the 6-3, 190-pound wing will add versatility and athleticism to the TMC lineup. He will also provide a much-needed defensive “stopper” that the Mustangs have not had the last couple of years.

“Jason will be one of the better athletes we have had here at The Master’s College since I have been here,” Martin said. “He will add much-needed depth at both ends of the floor and we believe has the toughness and strength to be an elite defender at our level.”

Derrick Fain: A transfer from Killgore Community College outside Dallas, Texas, the 6-4, 175-pound wing is also expected to provide additional depth on the perimeter with his ability to shoot the ball and penetrate the defense. He comes to the Mustangs after a stellar high school career at 4A Forney High School in Dallas, Texas. As a 2011 All-District performer, he averaged 22 points and seven rebounds his senior season.

“Derrick Fain is a long athletic wing that should offer great depth and scoring punch behind our two returning starters – Devin Dyer and Leif Karlberg,” Martin said. Derrick has three years of eligibility remaining after spending one year at Killgore.

Austin Loeb: Loeb, a 6-8, 235-pound post player transfers from Irvine Valley Community College after spending his freshman year at Colorado Christian University. In his senior year at Brethren Christian High School in Irvine, Calif., Loeb averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds per game and was named 1st Team All-League and All-CIF section.

“Austin will bring much needed size and depth to what we hope will be a much bigger and more talented front line”, Martin said. “I’m excited about Austin’s potential to add scoring in the post at the offensive end and a basket-protector at the defensive end.”

Ricardo Grieves: As the Mustangs’ only true freshman entering the 2012-2013 campaign, Ricardo Grieves, a 6-6, 190-pound wing comes to The Master’s College from Kingston, Jamaica.

“We’ve signed Ricardo to develop his potential into becoming a stand-out college basketball player,” stated Coach Martin. “He’s a tremendous big, long athlete who has shown the ability to score and defend. Our intention is to red shirt him in the 2012-2013 season and hopefully have the same success with him that we have had with our other Jamaican, Paul Brown.”

The Master’s College Mustangs finished the 2011-2012 campaign with a 20-16 overall record, and went 9-9 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

The Mustangs’ season begins with a home opener against Simpson College on Nov. 3.
