Sometimes giving homeless animals a chance to thrive is no more than a click away.
Kriser’s Christmas in JulyThe Brittany Foundation, a no-kill animal shelter in Acton that focuses on harder-to-place dogs, was awarded the grand prize of $15,000 in pet food and supplies after receiving the most votes and winning Kriser’s Christmas in July contest for Southern California.
Supporters of the Brittany Foundation were able to vote on Kriser’s Facebook page once a day until July 22.
Brittany Foundation staff received the award at the Kriser’s Studio City store on Friday, Aug. 9.
The two runners up were the Sante D’Or Foundation in Los Angeles and the I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Founder Nancy Anderson said that the prize will help “save us a lot of dollars that we would have spent on food and toys and other things, and therefore we can use those dollars toward pulling more animals out of the shelters or paying for veterinary costs.”
Anderson also said that they plan to donate some supplies to other shelters in the Los Angeles area, including Mutt Match LA in Castaic and others in the San Fernando Valley.
“We just figured we want to share,” Anderson said. “It’ll help us and it’ll help the rescue community as well.”
