2003 - Actress & big cat rescuer Tippi Hedren of Acton inducted into Hollywood Walk of Fame [story]

Between Thursday and Sunday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested two men for drugs and other charges, a parolee-at-large and a felon with a gun, helped a possibly suicidal man, and responded to vandalism at the Valencia Post Office.

Here are the stories from the station’s social media:

“Apparently, two out-of-towners involved in criminal activity didn’t realize where our Sheriff’s Station was located — or they wouldn’t have picked a parking lot within walking distance from ours to park in.

“Thursday around 6:45 a.m., deputies made contact with two male adults sitting in a car in a parking lot on Magic Mountain Parkway.

“The deputy observed heroin and drug paraphernalia on one of the adult male’s lap. Deputies also found that the men were in possession of counterfeit $100 dollar bills, methamphetamine, bank cards in the names of other people and packages/mail that did not belong to them.

“The two males were arrested on multiple charges including ID theft, forgery, theft and narcotics. They were transported the very short distance to our jail in a patrol car.”

Parolee Arrested in Val Verde
“It’s been a busy day. Deputies caught a parolee-at-large in Val Verde Friday afternoon.

“While we were trying to apprehend the 39-year-old suspect, he ran into a nearby house and chased the owner out. The homeowner was uninjured.

“We set up a containment, successfully captured the parolee and took him to jail.”

Man with Gun at Motel
“Friday) evening, deputies responded to a motel on the 17800 block of Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, regarding a possible suicidal adult male armed with a handgun.

“Air-29 assisted our responding units with keeping an aerial view of the location to determine the man’s location.

“Deputies were able to safely make contact with the man, recover the weapon, and transport him to a hospital for medical treatment.

“If you’re in crisis, please know that there are options available to help you cope. You can also call the National Lifeline at any time to speak to someone and get support. For confidential support available 24/7, call 1-800-273-TALK (8255).”

Target Shooter Arrested
“If you’re a convicted felon, it’s probably not a good idea to make a trip to SCV to practice your target shooting.

“We received a call on Saturday night informing us about ‘target shooting’ going on in a wash near Soledad Canyon Road and a mobile home park.

“Responding deputies arrested a 55-year-old man from Van Nuys, who also happened to be a convicted felon.

“He was charged with two felonies — felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition.

“We sure appreciated the help of one of our reserve deputies, Deputy Jackson, at this call. He even voluntarily stayed over an extra shift to make sure everything was handled to completion.”

Valencia Library Window Smashed
SCV Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating how a large window was smashed at the Valencia Post Office on Creekside Road Sunday afternoon.

The incident was believed to be vandalism and not an attempted break-in, Deputy Chris Craft said Monday morning.

“We got the call at 5:08 p.m.,” Craft said. “Someone reported that the glass had been broken. The deputies got there pretty quick, but the suspect was already gone.”

Postal inspectors will review surveillance video for further clues, Craft said.

Kevin Gilley of two8nine media caught the deputies as they arrived to assess the scene Sunday afternoon.
