On Monday, April 20, 2015, at 12:30 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department partnered with the California Highway Patrol and conducted an operation to address the growing movement of illegal street racing and cruising.
The operation, centered near the intersection of Broadway and Imperial Highway, Unincorporated South Los Angeles, was spearheaded by personnel from Carson Sheriff’s Station. The operation utilized law enforcement personnel from Century, South Los Angeles, Compton, and Lakewood Sheriff’s Stations, officers from the California Highway Patrol and LASD Aero Bureau. The operation included 44 arrests that ranged from warrant arrests to drug related offenses. Unlicensed drivers and those driving on a suspended license were also part of the 209 citations issued, in addition to the 54 vehicles that were towed.
Social media is used to promote the gathering of vehicles to participate in illegal activities and often draws upwards of 300 vehicles and more than 500 spectators. Street racing and cruising is not only a public nuisance, it is highly dangerous. Street racing often results in traffic collisions, injuries and fatalities.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Carson Station, remains committed to the quality of life in the community and is dedicated to keeping the streets of Carson safe.
Anyone with information about illegal street racing is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Carson Station at (310) 830-1123. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call “Crime Stoppers” by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.

Duh! Bust them too.
Quite a ways away from Santa Clarita
Glad to know my taxes are going towards making the county more money instead of stopping actual violent crime
street racing isn’t safe.
and this is coming from the guy that drives 80-100 just to go pick up milk from walmart.
Criminals my ass, bunch of kids that put everything they have into their cars then go have a little fun. I wonder how many rapes, murders, burglary’s, assaults etc. went unnoticed because of all the effort put into this. Its main goal was not for your or my safety, they wanted MONEY and thats all there is to it.
sean idk if i agree with that.

I keep hearing negative comments about Santa Clarita. Cleaning up south LA helps Santa Clarita stay safer. Like the border, we don’t have fences, like LA we have illegals here too. Those who do crime here don’t necessarily live or work here, if they work. We have to thank our sheriffs for cruising our streets while we sleep, putting there lives in jeopardy. We are one of the safest cities of our size, we have some of the best schools in California. Soooo, if you can’t love Santa Clarita and strive to help make it better, don’t whine, leave. We have no fences. Have loved living here for 49 yrs. Life is good here!
