The Seasonal Park Aide is a uniformed position that reports to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve or other Mojave Sector Parks, as directed by their supervisor. The Park Aide is responsible for fee collection, providing visitor information, answering phones, informing visitors about park rules, money accountability, revenue reporting, attendance documentation, traffic control, interpretation and education. Housekeeping and light cleaning are also required, as well as assisting staff or visitors with emergency situations as directed.
The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve Park Aide will be assigned to at least two 8-hour shifts per week from March 1 to May 14, and may be required to work on Saturdays and Sundays. Additional shifts may be required, but not to exceed 40 hours a week. This position may be required to work longer than 8 hours per day when requested for operational needs. Additional shifts may be available (but are not guaranteed) at the Poppy Reserve or other Mojave Sector parks if warranted by operational need.
The Antelope Valley Indian Museum State Historic Park Park Aide will work on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from 10:30 to 4:30 PM, a total of 12 hours per week. The AVIM park aide may also be assigned shifts at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve during poppy season. Additional hours may be required, but are not guaranteed.
These positions require a valid California driver’s license. Reliable transportation is also essential due to the remote work location. The successful candidates will be required to wear a State Parks uniform; newly purchased, the uniform items cost approximately $100. This is a 9-month-long seasonal appointment. The starting wage is $10.43 an hour.
