Trevor Brown
This has been perhaps the greatest week of Hart High School graduate Trevor Brown’s 20-year life.
First he was drafted in the 10th round by the San Francisco Giants Tuesday in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft.
Then his UCLA Bruins baseball team defeated the Texas Christian Horned Frogs 4-1 Saturday to advance to the NCAA Division 1 College World Series that begins this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.
That’s a pretty good week.
Pat Valaika (Hart) and Shane Zeile (Valencia) are two other Santa Claritans on the Bruins baseball squad heading to Nebraska.
Melissa Brown
But what makes Brown’s accomplishment so much more special is that he shares his trip to the College World Series with his twin sister, Melissa, who went to the Women’s College World Series this year with the University of Tennessee.
Are the Browns the first brother-sister combination to each go to their respective NCAA Division 1 College World Series in the same year? Are they the first twins?
And what makes it even more unique is they both start at first base for their respective teams.
