UPDATE Tuesday, 3:26 p.m., LASD:

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Canyon Country. Their investigation began Monday, June 15, 2015, when they responded to the 14800 Block of Narcissus Crest Avenue.

Detectives have learned that Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the location regarding a family disturbance call. Upon their arrival, they learned the suspect and victim had been involved in a physical altercation and saw the victim suffered blunt force trauma.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Jack Miller, a 74-year-old male, father of the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Sean Miller, a 47-year-old male, of Santa Clarita, son of the victim.

Suspect Miller was arrested at the scene, transported to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and booked for the charge of Murder. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

county_handcuffsHomicide detectives have arrested a man in connection with a suspected murder in Canyon Country.

Deputies responded to the initial call of a family disturbance inside a home in the 14800 block of Narcissus Crest in Canyon Country on Monday at 6:50 p.m.

The identity of the suspect, who is reportedly a relative of the victim, was not released, according to Lt. Victor Lewandowski of the Homicide Bureau.

Coroner’s officials didn’t release the identity of the victim pending the next-of-kin notification, but it’s reportedly a 74-year-old white male from Santa Clarita.

The cause of death had not yet been released.

“We have a person detained who believe to be somehow related to the victim, and that person is detained at the station,” Lewandowski said. “We have investigators who will be speaking with him to determine what took place.”

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

  1. Sad very sad , rest In peace …

  2. Citizen Smith says:

It continues to rain bodies in Canyon Country

  3. Is this the same house where there was some drama a few weeks back?

  4. Krissy Kjt says:

It was not a body found!!!!!! They were called to the residence because of the homicide!!! Stop saying BODY FOUND!!!!

  5. When the call was made there was a family dispute and when the sheriffs arrived he was dead. They are family friends of ours.

  6. And yet again, the victim and suspect are related. I’m so tired of everyone saying how “ghetto” canyon country is and how bad the crime and murder blah blah blah. If people would stop killing their relatives and themselves the “crime rate” would drop significantly.

  7. Canyon country just gets worse and worse in crime

    • There’s crime everywhere in this valley and yeah, it increases because there are more people here than there used to be. It’s not just canyon country.

    • Everyone has the right to there own opinion and mine seems to be a fact everyday lately. I know crime is everywhere but all you here about right now happens to be canyon country.

    • I just get tired of an old played out comment. Stanch, saugus and yes Valencia has their own fair share. And your opinion does not make anything a fact or what seems to be a fact. It’s called a perception. And it’s yours.

    • like I said before everyone has right to there own opinion you don’t like it you can keep scrolling. That easy

    • Mary Caldas says:

I don’t like it either. Stuff it Adriana!

    • It does have some of the more scary crimes but I would rather live here over anywhere else in SCV!

    • Mary Caldas says:

Btw on your comment, Ms know-it-all, it would be HEAR About not HERE About.

    • To all of you that seem to be affected by my comment I made GET OVER IT. There so many others saying worse things then me. But then again since you all don’t get it here it is again- IT’S MY OPINION so I can really say as I please.I have to say I had a good laugh over your comments, get over it there bigger things in this world to worry about then my comment, You can nit pick my comments, spelling, what ever you want. I don’t let petty people like you affect me. Here we go again ::) don’t like me or my comments keep scrolling. I’ll make sure to pray for you maybe you’ll wake up in better moods.

    • <—— is in a great mood!

  8. Adriana. Be quiet. Anyone could say that about any place In scv. Its old and tired regarding cc. I’m thinkin I’m not gonna respond back. Just check out your own area before you through those stones in your glass house.

  9. It’s no secret cc has gone downhill in the past 10 years. Why be so feisty? Geez!

  10. How come the guys mug is it on this page, we live close by we want to see what the guy looks like!

  11. Feisty would be me saying eff you. I was very civil and reasonable. The cc comments are worn out and tired. The entire scv has gone downhill in the past 10 years. Thank you NL&F and the greedy developers.

    • Sure the comments are old, but ur agreeing with the fact it’s gone downhill so why have an attitude because someone said just that? Because she spoke her opinion and u didn’t like it so now everyone needs to shut up and not express their own thoughts? Get over urself. Don’t read comments then. You don’t snap at people for voicing their thoughts and then turn around with some snarky comments towards them. It’s hypocritical and catty. Chill.

  12. Ryan Connor says:

Here goes the cc has gone down hill Comments you all are ignorant as they come there has always been murder and domestic violence in this city not just CC but Valencia(oh yA snobs post your crys) social media puts it in are face , but it’s been here and will increase as a city grows , cc had like 60,000 or less people out here in the 70-80s and as the city grows there will be, as logic would tell you , more crime. Move to any city even good old Beverly Hills has murders , I get a laugh at the ignorance on a pubic page from people you should be embarrassed at your own stupidity , crime happens , murder happens in all cities awesome town is no different, because you call it awesome – it’s still
One of the safest cities move and the go see what real crime is about awesometowners

    • Brad James says:

Word for the day is “punctuation”.

    • Ryan Connor says:

The point was made I believe and typing on a phone isn’t the best for punctuation Siri makes mistakes. But If that’s all you got out of my comment then your as ignorant as the rest. I guess with out proper punctuation you couldn’t understand the message sorry

    • I got ya Ryan! I find CC one of the safer places! Unless you live on Jakes Way… That area is sketchy as all Hell! But it was fun to watch the copper chopper chase bad guys down the wash! It’s land of the stoners around here… It’ll take more then a couple crack heads to make CC “go downhill”!

    • Ryan Connor says:

Jakes way is a crap hole and always has been due to low rent and section 8 living

    • Ummmm…I’ve lived off off Jakes Wy…and I ain’t NEVA…had no Section 8…I paid the full price for rent over there at two different apartment/townhouse. …
But yeah….I did notice it “changing” over there….that’s why I bought a house somewhere else. ..

    • Ryan Connor says:

I lived there to Patricia Bonier and was def not section 8 in no way am
I saying all of jakes way is but we all know where the shadiness starts , I lived on sandy drive for a few years

    • Ryan Connor says:

Sandy drive gang x13 lol Patricia Bonier

    • Ryan Connor says:

Sandy drive gang x13 lol Patricia Bonier

    • Ummmm..yes there has always been crime. There is everywhere u go buy cc is worse than newhall now. Get off the social media train…blah blah blah. It’s gotten worse. Either accept it or agree to disagree. Ur not changing anyone’s mind. Especially if u can hardly use basic writing skills. Relax. If u think its the same it was 10 years ago, u need some glasses or something. It’s 100 percent gotten worse. :-/

  13. It’s all been domestic violence pretty much!

  14. So sad I’ve been living in Canyon Country over 25 years

  15. I live in Canyon Country… There has been a rise of sketchy stuff! But not enuff to say CC is going downhill! I would rather live here then in any other part of SCV! This is just an unfortunate event! Let’s send love and pray for the family during this crappy time instead of yelling at each other over the Internet!

    • True…alot of arguing and not enough kind thoughts however 10 years ago there was social media and 10 years ago I lived here and it’s a major turnaround. There are many reasons why it happened but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s not as safe as it was 10 years ago rather it be a huge difference or a small one. The safety aspect is gone now. It’s not Compton or whatever is the worst place, but it’s changed. Definatley.

  16. Doc KD says:

You all live in So. Cal. It all sucks whether it’s Santa Clarita or Santa Monica. Like 3 million rats in a cage. What do you think is going to happen?

  17. Kara Eckert says:

The suspect is one of my fathers oldest friends, since they were kids, I’ve known the family my whole life! No one knows what has gone on in tht home for many years, and that’s all I’m going to say about the situation. But it isn’t anyone’s place to judge. You’re goin to hear stories, but just know that not everyone knows what happens behind closed door. He is not a bad man, or a monster, or anything of the sort! He is a loving father, friend, and son! I speak because I know! So please be respectful everyone of what you say, for the family and friends sake. Especially be mindful that you don’t know the truth!

    • Thanks for your insider comments. There is sorrow in that family, their friends and I’m sure the neighborhood as well. My prayers are with them all. Judging a sad event is shameful trait.

    • Kara Eckert says:

Thank you Shirley! I appreciate your kind words!’ All we can do is pray pray pray! God is in control! I just felt the need to speak up my peace on the supposed “suspects” behalf, as he is not here to speak for himself! I just really don’t want to see a whole bunch of negative/judge mental and misleading assumptions!

    • James Gurdine says:

the majority of the comments regarding this has been about CC in general and it’s general decline in more than a few ways. I don’t see anyone judging the people involved cuz, you’re right, they don’t know. But they sure as hell know what’s been going in some parts of SC, crime in general wise.

    • Kara Eckert says:

No I’m not sayin anyone judging, I’m more like asking people to please just understand that the “alleged” suspect is not a monster, or a bad person, and was just asking for people to be sensitive and non judging for family and friends sake. I definitely wasn’t implying anyone was judging though. Just asking that so called victim in cases isn’t always the only victim.

  18. Santa Clarita has Always had Hood and Bad Areas just like any other City in Cali. I agree with @Ryan Connor, i used to Dispatch for a Company that worked with SCV Sheriff’s Department and Valencia is not Immune to crime especially Drug homes! They just cover it up much. Canyon Country is to blame, cause there is more Diversity…

  19. I used to live in SCV from 1989 till 2010, i loved sitting out at night and be able to hear the coyotes in the Distance , camp out st night i

  20. Greedy Developers is Right!!! I lived in SCV, from 1989 to 2010. My Grandmother owned land in ValVerde, i remember camping outside her home for days without anything to fear but Mosquito Bites.lived in Old Saugus, and loved it , I remember taking all the Nature walks along the Trails, and fall asleep to the cries of the coyotes.. Lived in Canyon Country for years without a worry… I hate how it has changed, over crowded by new Homes nobody buys.. Our Nature trails and Mountains are being torn to build more homes!!! When is Enough Enough!!! Do not allow Santa Clarita turn into another Burbank!!!! I am Native American and I treasure “Wildlife ” and Nature

  21. Anonymous says:

I’ve lived in the SCV for 25 years. When I first moved up here from North Hollywood, I bought a house in CC. I did so to escape crime in The Valley and for my family to live somewhere safer. I watched CC steadily decline and crime steadily go up. I live in Valencia now and anyone who thinks Valencia and CC are about on a par with each other regarding things like crime and more doesn’t know squat about living in Santa Clarita.

  22. Kimberly Jellings Shaughnessy Andi Lombardi Sarah Reyes

  23. Lorry peters says:

I wished people would stop with the c.c.thing Stevenson ranch has worse crap you got kids in high school doing stuff you have older couples shooting the wife then him self I think we’re pretty quiet here and seriously it’s everywhere maybe if we all stepped in once in a while maybe he still be alive

  24. David Medina says:

Awesometown! Our cops won’t shoot you, but your family might.

  25. Jesse Medina says:

    Matson JamesWrath Medina

  26. John Gilbert says:

Ryan Conner for Mayor! Oh yeah, I’m “ignorant” 8-)

  27. It’s about a murder not about canyon country

  28. Shirley says:

Nice people don’t kill their father or anyone else. But yes it is sad.

  29. Dave Lee says:

We live around the corner. 3 weeks ago our next door neighbor tried to burn another neighbors house down. Never a dull moment. But I still love it there. Something like this can happen in any neighborhood.

  30. Dave Lee says:

  31. I have lived in CC for 20 years now. I have noticed a big increase in sheriff’s helicopters. Seems We hear them daily. Really seems so. More homeless around, druggie types, panhandlers at CVS…I see the changes and makes me sad. Graffiti tags today by Fox liquor…

  32. David B. says:

Jack Miller was a good friend and a kind soul. I did know that some members of his immediate family had issues, but he tried to help them, perhaps by being too enabling IMO. I feel awful for ALL parties involved. A son faces serious charges, a wife and another son and numerous grandchildren lose a spouse, brother, and grandfather. This is so sad and tragic and is NOT representative of that family’s usual behaviors. May Jack rest in peace and the surviving family members find eventual comfort. “We are diminished”..

  33. David B. says:

PS; Jack Miller also leaves behind a daughter. This is so tragic.
