Valencia-based organization World Wide Cultural Exchange will join the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley and Six Flags Magic Mountain to host “Exchange Visitor Day” at the club’s Newhall location on Monday, Aug. 6.
The event is part of a nationwide celebration of the power of international exchanges and an opportunity to raise awareness of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.
WWCE will bring Exchange Visitors and the local communities together for a day of “Eat, Play, Give” under the motto: “WWCE – We Work with Communities Everywhere!”
For this year’s event, WWCE has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley and Six Flags Magic Mountain to provide backpacks stuffed with school supplies for 50 kids age 7-17, selected by the club.
The Exchange Visitors, sponsored by WWCE, are part of a group of university students from China, India, Nigeria, Philippines, Spain, Thailand and Turkey who are here on summer break to experience American culture while working with our local host employer, Six Flags Magic Mountain.
They will purchase school supplies with their own money, stuff the backpacks and present them to the Boys & Girls Club at the close of the Aug. 6 event.
Beginning at 12 p.m., activities for the day will include lunch in the park, featuring samples of traditional food and dessert made by the Exchange Visitors representing their home country, followed by games like soccer, basketball, Frisbee and hula hoops.
Cities across the United States will hold similar “Eat, Play, Give” events providing Exchange Visitors and their hosts an opportunity to enjoy culturally diverse cuisine, share cultural diversity and customs, and give back to their local communities.
Participation in this event, either in person or virtually, will help raise awareness on the positive impact cultural exchanges have in our community and around the United States.
As a designated sponsor of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, WWCE was founded in 2000 with the main objective to encourage and promote programs that will prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to experience the United States of America.
WWCE works to build partnerships, promote mutual understanding, and develop relationships that will last through generations as these foreign nationals move into leadership roles in a broad range of occupational fields in their own countries.
Part of WWCE’s commitment as a program sponsor is to encourage Exchange Visitors to give back to their host communities, and Exchange Visitor Day provides the perfect opportunity for us to partner with community organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Club and Six Flags Magic Mountain who share the same values.
Email admin@wwceusa.com for more information about the upcoming event or participation in “Exchange Visitor Day.”
