[KHTS] – The A List Hair & Makeup Studio in Newhall is hosting an event featuring martinis and makeovers for the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita on Aug. 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
“Come get glam for a good cause,” said Sally Van Swearingen, a local wedding and studio makeup artist who owns the salon where the event is taking place.
The $25 admission fee is donated straight to the DVC. The fee includes one free martini and refreshments.
Asked why she often donates proceeds from her events to the DVC, Van Swearingen said, “My book and studio are all about reclaiming yourself, and your power. Women at the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita are starting their lives over, and sometimes women just need some extra help to get motivated.”
Van Swearingen, who has been in the Santa Clarita Valley for 13 years, has owned and operated the A List Hair & Makeup Studio in Newhall for six years, will be using and selling her new makeup line and summer hairstyles. The studio will have makeup experts that can help design a whole new summer look for attendees.
Makeup specials can include: haircut, blow-dry, lashes and makeup done using the Studio Essential Cosmetics flawless kit. All products and services will be offered at a discounted rate, with a percentage of the sales being donated to the DVC.
Van Swearingen is also an author.
“Now is the time when women are recognized at this age,” Van Swearingen said.
You can call ahead to reserve spots by calling the A List Salon at (661) 260 1136.
