Western-Americana singer and songwriter John Zipperer headlines the next episode of “SCVTV Presents The OutWest Concert Series” at The MAIN in Old Town Newhall the evening of Friday, Aug. 25.
A former TV actor and stuntman, Zipperer got a second chance rolling down the highway of life, not on a carefully controlled movie or commercial set, but while changing a tire for a friend along the 285 freeway in Atlanta: He was hit by a 10-wheel oil truck.
After flying 40 feet and landing in the hospital, Zipperer was told by the critical care doctor, “You should be dead!”
To John this seemed like a clear sign that life is, or could be, too short. He packed everything he owned into his 1976 Camaro and headed out to Los Angeles to pursue a life in music. It was ZipTime!
Zipperer’s clear voice, infectious melodies and heartfelt lyrics reach fans in places that they didn’t know existed. Soon everyone is singing along, swaying, chair dancing, head bobbing, and clapping.
Fans remark repeatedly about the joy that is evident when the band is on stage – joy in their playing, joy for their audience, joy from their audience. Zipperer delivers a unique and refreshing blend of rock, folk, country, and blues.
Joining Zipperer will be fellow musicians Nick Kirgo, Tara Sitser, Leslie Beauvais and Hank Van Sickle.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and showtime is at 8 p.m. General admission is $25, or $20 for members of the Western Music Association, the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society and Friends of Hart Park.
Save $5 on a general admission by mentioning you saw the will-appear on SCVTV or here on SCVNews.com.
