The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is launching its annual appeal campaign – a multifaceted campaign, consisting of both online and mail components, focusing on how the center has changed the lives of the individuals they serve. As a nonprofit organization, the SCV Senior Center is dependent upon grants, public funding and, perhaps most importantly, financial gifts from individuals and businesses.

“We see donors as far more than just names on a list. Our donors are partners in our mission to provide independence, dignity and quality of life for the senior community,” Executive Director Rachelle Dardeau said. “This is a place where we see people find renewed vitality, hope and joy. Every dollar matters to our mission. Every gift is a spark that can ignite a blaze of community support.”

The Center is asking for the community’s help in supporting its mission with a financial contribution. Every contribution counts toward helping serve the Santa Clarita Valley’s senior community of nearly 40,000 people. The 2013 theme is “Be the Spark,” with each donor considered a “spark” that can ignite a blaze of support.

Located in historic Newhall under the shade of sprawling oak trees, the SCV Senior Center is a welcoming gathering place for the community’s seniors. Volunteers and staff at the Center provide a multitude of programs and services that promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Every year the SCV Senior Center serves more than 50,000 congregate lunches, providing a nutritious lunch option in a lively social setting. They also provide more than 65,000 home-delivered meals every year, and for many of the homebound seniors they serve, it is an important daily point of human contact and interaction.
