Public Safety and Crime Prevention Info
Snapshot 09/16/2013 to 09/22/2013

My name is Deputy Josh Dubin, the public information officer here at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. I am also the former Crime Prevention Unit zone leader for the Newhall (Zone 6) area. Although there has not been a zone leader assigned to Stevenson Ranch / Westridge (Zone 3) for a number of months, new private funding was secured to provide public information as to a review of the part one crimes reported for zone 3 during the past week. I prepared this report to keep local area residents informed of current public safety and crime prevention information and trends.

There were eight part-one crimes reported between the above dates. These crimes are detailed below:

An attempt residential burglary was reported from the 25000 block of Coriander Court. This incident occurred on Monday, September, 16th, 2013 at 12:35pm. The victim discovered that a living room window was cracked and had a small piece of glass broken out near the latch. The window screen was removed and on the ground. The victim reported he believed suspect(s) entered his back yard by climbing up the hill over his fence and tried to enter his home by breaking the window (ref -12743).

A grand theft was reported from the 26500 block of Heritage View Lane. A men’s Rolex watch and US currency was reported stolen from the location after being left in a bag in a public place (ref -12752).

A stolen vehicle was recovered from the 25500 block of The Old Road. Two suspects were arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Deputies. The suspects were charged with grand theft auto, receiving stolen property, and possession of burglary tools. This arrest occurred on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at approximately 11:45am (ref -12790).

A residential burglary was reported from the 25300 block of Silver Aspen Way. No forced entry to the location was found by deputies, and it is still under investigation as to how the suspect(s) made entry to the residence. Taken were US Currency and several electronic items (ref -12864).

A grand theft was reported from the 25300 block of The Old Road. Both a chrome bumper and a license plate were stolen from a 2010 Dodge Ram truck (ref -12844).

An assault with a deadly weapon was reported from the 24800 block of Pico Canyon Road on Thursday, September, 19th 2013. This incident was reported at 5:30am. The victim reported he was sleeping next to the back door of the carwash when he awoke to being punched and hit with an aluminum pipe. The victim stood up and grabbed the pipe from the suspect to stop the attack. The victim reported he possibly knew who the suspect was. The investigation is on-going (ref -12880).

A grand theft was reported from Six Flags Magic Mountain on Saturday, September 21, 2013. A bag containing numerous items was stolen (ref -13003). The next day (09/22/13) another grand theft was again reported from Six Flags Magic Mountain. An unknown person stole a purse which was left unattended (ref -13046).
