Valencia, Zone 5
Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Snapshot for 03/10/2014 through 03/16/2014
Zone 5-Valencia had six Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The lowest recorded crime for the year so far. The criminal incidents included a residential burglary, commercial burglary, and numerous petty thefts from various areas.
A residential burglary occurred on the 24300 block of El Molina Avenue between the hours 10:00 pm and 7:30 am. The victim left the side garage door unlocked. Suspect(s) unknown then entered the residence through the garage and stole a lap top, television and car keys from the kitchen area. Once they obtained the keys, they entered the vehicles which were parked in the garage and stole a purse, wallet and GPS from the center console/passenger area of the vehicle.
A commercial burglary occurred at the Olive Garden Restaurant 8:45 pm. Two male suspects were caught taking the metal loading dock ramp from behind the restaurant area. An employee was able to detain the suspects and had them bring back the stolen item which is worth $1,200. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Please use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings when securing your bicycles. A petty theft of a bicycle was stolen at a Chevron gas station while the victim was inside. The bicycle was left unlocked and unsecured. Remember to keep the serial number of your bicycle on file in the event that it is stolen to aid in its recovery.
Continue to keep vehicle burglaries and thefts down. Do not leave items visible in your vehicle! Take all personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not leave items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel or blankets. Thieves know this technique. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle. Keep theft down. Take careful steps to not become a victim. Be mindful of your surroundings. Do not leave personal items unattended in public areas, such as gyms, restaurants, shopping cart areas or counter tops of businesses.
If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121. There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included, possession of marijuana, driving under the influence of alcohol, warrants and numerous shoplifting from local businesses.
