Tip of the Week: What’s in your wallet?
Leaving wallets and purses in either a locked, or unlocked vehicle where they are easily visible is never a good idea. The inconvenience of having a window smashed, the loss of cash, and having to replace a driver’s license and debit/credit cards is never fun. But if you think of the other crimes that you may fall victim to, there are a lot more inconveniences, as well as safety issues to worry about. When a thief gets hold of your wallet or purse, they will also have access to your bank account and personal identity. In many cases where thieves manage to steal an entire wallet, they most often go to local stores and make multiple high cost purchases using your debit/credit cards before you’ve noticed they are missing. Additionally, if your purse is taken, the thief will now have your house and vehicle keys, as well as your home address. It would be frustrating to have someone steal your vehicle right out of your driveway, but it would be te rrifying to have someone enter your home while your family was sleeping. Never leave your wallet or purse in your vehicle in plain sight. Keep these items with you at all times, or secure them in your home when not in use, or in a locker if the facility provides one.
