1955 - Actor and nightclub owner Ace Cain incorporates the Rocky Springs Country Club in Sand Canyon [story]
Ace Cain

A 10-year-old boy was struck by a car Monday shortly after 4 p.m. near the intersection of Crossglade Avenue and Pleasantdale Street in Canyon Country.

The boy apparently did not receive life-threatening injuries. Paramedics treated him at the scene and decided to airlift him from Sierra Vista Junior High School to a hospital as a precaution because he qualified as a trauma patient.

More than one witness said the boy ran out into the street from behind a parked van. Witnesses said children frequently dart out into traffic at the location, and said the female driver of the 2011 Ford Fiesta did not appear to be speeding.

The boy reportedly told deputies he saw the car coming but thought he could make it across the street.
