After a month-long run for sold-out houses at the Canyon Theatre Guild in February, “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” is being held over for two more weekends due to popular demand.

The rock musical is packed with classic hits by the first-generation 1950s rock ‘n’ roll legend, like “That’ll Be the Day,” “Peggy Sue” and “Everyday.” The play traces Holly’s life from local Texas hero to international superstar.

Holly died on Feb. 3, 1959 in a plane crash in Iowa. It was also the “day the music died,” as songwriter Don McLean would reflect a decade-plus later.
