1936 - Passenger plane crash in Rice Canyon kills all 12 aboard [story]
victim recovery

coroner-logo[KHTS] – Coroner’s officials are investigating the death of a Canyon Country man who died in custody at Twin Towers jail in downtown Los Angeles, officials said Friday.

Anthony Steven Morejon, 25, of Canyon Country, died in jail around 9:04 p.m. Tuesday, according to coroner’s officials.

“It was initially reported as either an accident or a natural death,” according to Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner’s Office.

Medical examiners with the Coroner’s Office have not yet conducted an autopsy to determine if he died of natural causes or if his death was accidental.

Morejon, whose occupation was listed as recycler, was arrested Sunday night on the 17700 block of Sierra Highway  by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies on a drug possession charge, possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a parole violation.

A hold was placed on his record by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Foul play was not suspected, said Lt. Holly Francisco of the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, who investigated the death.

The death is not considered a homicide, she added.

He was in jail for a parole violation, according to officials with the District Attorney’s Office.

Morejon had a November 2008 burglary conviction; a September 2009 hit and run conviction; a December 2009 conviction for possession of stolen property; a December 2010 conviction for a robbery charge; and in December 2013 he was convicted of possessing methamphetamine.

  4. It is long past time we end the drug war. This guy was in jail for non violent offense of drug possession when he would have been better served in a hospital or drug treatment center.

Learned something new here. Do crimes… You’re ok when you die and should not be judged…except the court system.

Do none, be hated by random people as if you did a crime because you didn’t coddle said dead person as if they were some savior.

Many of you are loons. If what this kid did to other did to your family, you’d be smiling. Not your family, the non criminal is the bad guy. I hope you reap what you sow.

The CIA pushes cocaine and heroin into this country and then they arrest black men for those same drugs.

Backs are 10.1 times more likely then whites to be arrested for drugs.

Visit this venue, and sort out this issue to its root. To its very core. Rout any wrongdoers, should they be made known by You. Deal with them according to Your Law. Now. Today. Delay only causes further indifference to Your Law. IJN
Certain recompence is long overdue there, anyhow.
Should they be found to be LAW abiding, they have nothing to worry about then. Right?

  32. Cross says:

First of I was shocked to hear this tragic news. Anthony was a great person at heart. Did he make some poor choices, yes. Did drugs add to that, yes. I think the drugs caused him to lose control. We’ve all made mistakes. Did Anthony deserve to die in a jail cell, no! For some of you on here taking poorly about the deceased, well you’ll get yours. RIP Anthony. Your time was short. We’ll miss you.

  33. Dave Lee says:

Was he the guy on Abelia?

    • Yvonne says:

All I can say is I was once on a very bad path. I picked myself up and turned my life into a wonderful empire. NOBODY deserves to die while in custody nor should their past be brought into it or I should have been burned at the steak. I have an issue with people who judge by paper. Fyi…. I also came from a family of Law Enforcement and there are good and bad EVERYWHERE! RIP dear soul. This should have NEVER happened. POINT BLANK

  34. Lynn barnes says:

He terrorized a neighborhood of hard working, decent people. Now he is dead. Life has a way of removing parasites from humanity. Dying at the age of 25 in jail should be your first clue that he was an epic fail.

  35. Horace Lipschitz says:

Sounds like a real piece of crap and the world is better off without him.
