The Castaic Union School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointments of Vivian Fiss as the new principal at Northlake Hills Elementary School and Nicole Price as the new assistant principal at Castaic Middle School.
The appointments were made during Thursday’s board meeting.
“We are thrilled to bring Mrs. Fiss and Ms. Price on board to our leadership team,” said Castaic Union School District Superintendent Doyle. “Our staff conducted an extensive search for both positions, which required applicants to participate in a panel to select the appropriate candidates for the board. I feel confident we have made the right decision.”
Mrs. Fiss began her career as a teacher in 1999 and has dedicated her profession serving families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Mrs. Fiss has spent the last six years as an assistant principal developing and implementing successful school-wide behavior plan, emergency site plans, developing data analysis and administrative training to name a few. In 2015, Mrs. Fiss was recognized by the Association of California School Administrators with the ACSA Co-Administrator of the Year.
Castaic Middle School will bring on Nicole Price as its new assistant principal. Ms. Price has been an assistant principal since 2012 for both a middle school and a high school in Los Angeles County. Her impressive track record of implementing restorative practices, bilingual outreach and strategically crafting student-centered instruction is a perfect fit for Castaic Middle School.
Ms. Price has also been involved in numerous organizations and committees such as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, ACSA Region XIV, Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports.
“Our faculty and staff are eager to begin collaborating with both Mrs. Fiss and Ms. Price,” Doyle said. “We are setting the course for the 2018-2019 school year on the right path.”
