[News Release] – Celebrate Bike Safety Month this May with the City of Santa Clarita’s FREE Hit the Trail community bike ride, presented by Total Financial Solutions, on Saturday, May 10. The family-friendly ride and rally will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Bridgeport Park.
Residents of all ages are invited to grab their bikes and gear up for a non-competitive bicycle ride throughout the City’s diverse trail system. The guided ride departs from Bridgeport Park shortly after 10:00 a.m., and will cruise through the City’s various trails for a full 10-mile route or a shorter 4-mile route for families with younger children.
“The City of Santa Clarita hosts several free events throughout the year to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for residents,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “In addition to offering a leisurely ride through Santa Clarita, ‘Hit the Trail’ also serves as the official kick-off for the local arrival of the Amgen Tour of California.”
The Hit the Trail community bike ride will end back at Bridgeport Park with a family fair featuring giveaways, tricycle races, a bike clinic hosted by Performance Cyclery, and healthy food, including free sandwiches provided by Jersey Mikes. The Amgen Tour of California Street Team will be on hand with giveaways to get residents in the spirit for America’s greatest cycling race, which rolls through Santa Clarita on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17 for the Stage 6 and Stage 7 starts.
Bridgeport Park is located at 23521 Bridgeport Lane. For more information on the Hit the Trail community bike ride, visit SantaClaritaTourofCA.com or “like” Santa Clarita Tour of CA on Facebook.
