In the spirit of Halloween, the College of the Canyons Athletics department is inviting fans to don their creepiest, spookiest, scariest — and most humorous — costumes and attend Saturday’s Cougar football game free of charge.
No. 5 College of the Canyons (6-1, 3-0) will host No. 14 Ventura College (4-3, 2-1) in a meeting of two Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern League opponents.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Cougar Stadium.
The game will also be broadcast live on KHTS AM 1220. Listeners can access the live audio by clicking the ‘Listen Live’ located on the COC football home page, or by visiting www.hometownstation.com and clicking ‘Listen Live.’
All fans who arrive at the stadium in costume on Saturday will be admitted into the game for free, provided their costume is appropriate for a family atmosphere and does not pose a safety/security concern.
The invite is extended to both children and adults.
General admission tickets are $5. Kids 10 and under are free.
“We would like to show our appreciation for the tremendous amount of fan support we receive each season by inviting the community to come out and experience Cougar football,” said COC head football coach Ted Iacenda.
Last weekend the Cougars defeated No. 19 Allan Hancock College 42-24 to earn a conference road victory.
In addition, COC freshman wide receiver Nick Jones has been named the Southern California Football Association Northern League Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Allan Hancock in week seven.
Jones, a Valencia High School graduate, finished the contest with eight catches for 177 yards and a touchdown.
