The College of the Canyons women’s golf team won its first tourney of the season on Monday, as the Cougars carded a four-player score of 366 at Western State Conference (WSC) event No. 3.
The tournament was held at the par-72 Elkins Ranch Golf Course in Fillmore, CA, with Canyons serving as event host.
Citrus College finished with a score of 340, while Santa Barbara City College placed third at 341.
COC sophomore Julia Youn led the way for Canyons with a score of 76 — good for the tourney’s top spot among the field of 28 players.
Tiffany Whittaker turned in the second place score for the Cougars at 81, while Alexis Miller finished the day at 86.
Freshman Amanda Horii shot a 93 to round out the Canyons scorecard.
COC will next compete in the CCCAA North/South Invitational being held Sept. 27-28 at Morro Bay Golf Course.
Canyons last played the Morro Bay Course on Nov. 17, 2014, during the CCCAA State Championships, where the Cougars finished in second place — just three strokes back of eventual state champions College of the Desert.
