Community: Valencia Crime Report for the week of August 29, 2016

08/29/16

Grand Theft- 28600 block of Newhall Ranch Road  An unknown suspect cut the chain of a pressure washer and stole it from outside of the location.

08/30/16 

Grand Theft – 28200 block of Avenue Crocker An unknown suspect stole 183 pairs of women’s designer shoes.

08/31/16 

Commercial Burglary -24200 block of Valencia Boulevard Two female suspects were arrested at the location for trying to exit the store without paying for clothing items. 

09/01/16

Vehicle Burglary/Theft by access card- Avenue Hall /Avenue Crocker.  An unknown suspect made forced entry into the victim’s vehicle and stole her purse.

09/03/16

Burglary (Residential)-28500 block of Westinghouse Place  An unknown suspect made entry into the victim’s hotel room and stole several personal items.

Petty Theft -26100 block of McBean Parkway  An unknown suspect made entry into the victim’s vehicle and stole the side view mirror camera assembly.

09/04/16 

Burglary (Vehicle)- 28500 block of Westinghouse Place  An unknown suspect made entry into the victim’s vehicle and stole his 3rd row seat.

Petty Theft- 24201 Valencia Boulevard An unknown suspect stole the victim’s wallet which contained credit cards and the victim’s ID.

SAFETY  TIP: Barriers to Burglary

Burglary is a crime of opportunity. Make their work risky and difficult, and you stand a good chance of stopping them before they get in.

Your first line of defense

To a burglar visibility means vulnerability. They hide behind fences and shrubbery. The key is to keep trespassers out while keeping your property visible. Use picket or chainlink fences Keep hedges clipped down around waist level. Burglars try the doors and windows first. If burglars have difficulty here, chances are they will move on to another property.
