Newhall, Zone 6

A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week shows a slight increase.

Two purses were stolen.  One on Monday the 9th at 4:00 a.m., in a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 24800 block of Walnut Avenue, and one on Lyon’s Avenue near Arcadia Street.  The victims described the suspects as a male and female in their 20’s, driving a late model, gray, 4 door sedan.

There were four residential burglaries reported in the following areas, the 24500 Pepperidge Drive, the 23800 block of Oakhurst Drive, the 23700 block of Silverado, and one in the 24800 block of Walnut Street.

Be sure to lock your doors and windows when you leave every day.  Set your timers for your lights.  Arrange for friends or family to check your house while you are on vacation.  Stop the mail and newspaper while you are away.  Try to have a neighbor who has emergency contact numbers for you.  We all need to take as many precautions we can to prevent crime.

There were two vehicles broke in to.  One in the 24600 block of Whiley Canyon, and the other in the 24800 block of Railroad Avenue.

Five additional thefts occurred during the week.  A television was stolen from an unlocked shed in the 23400 block of Newhall Avenue.  Christmas trees were stolen from the Green Thumb Nursery at 23734 Newhall Avenue.  A cargo trailer was stolen from Sierra Highway, north of Newhall Avenue.  A bicycle was stolen from the 23300 Block of Lyons Avenue.

Everybody is very busy with the holiday season.  We all need to practice good crime prevention behavior.  Always lock your car.  Secure your purchases in the trunk and out of view.  Be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious behavior to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at (661)255-1121.  Be safe and enjoy the Holidays.
