Grand Theft – 26300 block of Mitchell Place

Person(s) unknown stole three gold wedding bands and a gold class ring (total value $2,900.00) from a box which had been left on the driveway of the home unattended while the victim was cleaning his garage.

09/28/16

Petty Theft (Vehicle) – 26100 block of Lone Rock Court

Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole two pairs of sunglasses valued at $800.00.

Burglary (Vehicle) – 26100 block of Lone Rock Court

Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s vehicle and stole a pair of sunglasses and other miscellaneous items totaling $400.00. The victim stated her vehicle was locked. There were no signs of forced entry.

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25300 block of Chiquella Lane

Person(s) unknown smashed the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her daughter’s backpack containing her wallet and $100.00 in gift cards.

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25200 block of The Old Road

Person(s) unknown smashed the passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her back pack containing her passport.

Burglary (Vehicle) – 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road

Person(s) unknown smashed the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her backpack containing a laptop computer, headphones, and her watch. Total loss was $1,400.00.

Grand Theft – 26100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway

Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s back pack containing her iPhone, wallet, car keys, sunglasses, and $70.00 in U.S. currency. The item was left on a bench in the area unattended. Total loss was $1,970.00.

Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack containing his passport. There were no signs of forced entry.

Tip of the Week: Preventing Vehicle Thefts

‘Smash and grabs’ are a common problem all over the country. Thieves look into your vehicle for anything of interest, smash the window, then grab what they can and run. This can be a very expensive inconvenience to the victim. Here are some tips to prevent yourself from becoming a victim.

* Never leave purses, laptop computers, cell phones, GPS devices, etc, in your vehicle where they are in plain view. If you cannot take them with you, then store them in the trunk and out of view.

* Never leave items of interest, like gym bags, pack packs, unmarked boxes, or packages, in your vehicle in plain view. Even though a thief does not know what these items contain, it may be worth the risk to them to steal them.

* When parking at night, try to park in a well-lit area to deter thieves.

* Consider using a sunshade in your vehicle, even at night or in parking strictures. This makes it far more difficult for a thief to look into your vehicle for anything of interest
