Grand Theft – 34900 block Ridge Route Road; Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s Bobcat tractor from his property.

07/29/16

Burglary – 27600 block Navajo Court; Person(s) unknown entered the home through an open window and stole several firearms, numerous rounds of ammunition, and a signed baseball card collection.

07/30/16

Grand Theft – 31800 block The Old Road; Person(s) unknown stole a metal pipe fixture (NFD) from the trailer of the informant’s vehicle while he was sleeping in the cab.

Tip of the Week: Preparing for an Evacuation

This last month was very intense for the city of Santa Clarita, where we as first responders, and a community, had to deal with the Sage and Sand fires. Summer is not over, and the hills around us are still extremely dry and vulnerable to fires. In the event of a fire, you will be notified by public announcements, and even verbally by Deputies and Fire Fighters going door to door. But unfortunately by then the evacuation should be immediate, and will not allow you to make any kind of preparations. Preparing for an evacuation will save you and your family a lot of stress, as well as allow you to take any sensitive items with you during the evacuation. Here are some tips that can help you better prepare and execute an evacuation:

* Make a list of non-replaceable items that you would want to take with you, (family photos, computers, important documents) and note their locations.

* If you have pets, assure that you have an emergency supply of food and water for them, as well as any other care products they require. (Leashes, feeding bowels, beds, etc.)

* Pre-plan where you will evacuate too. The hotels in the city will fill up fast in the event of an evacuation. If you have family or friends outside the city, try to make prior arrangements to go to those locations in the event of an evacuation. Familiarize yourself with hotels outside the city, and assure they allow pets if you have pets.

* If you own a motorhome or recreational trailer, these could be excellent shelters in the event of an evacuation. Keep your RV stocked with water and essentials.

* PRACTICE YOUR EVACUATION. Take some time with your family to practice getting the things you will need to evacuate, and load them in your vehicle to assure they will fit.

* PRE-EVACUATE!!! If there is a fire in your area, you may choose to pre-evacuate, even though an evacuation has not been ordered. This will allow you much more time to gather those sensitive and necessary items for an evacuation.

REMEMBER: No material item you own, regardless of how rare or sentimental, has more value than human life. In the event of an evacuation, do not hesitate. Gather your family and pets, and leave the area immediately.
