Valencia, Zone 5

Zone 5-Valencia had twelve Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included robbery, an attempt burglary, vehicle burglaries, theft from an unlocked vehicle, and shoplifting from local businesses.

A robbery occurred on the 23500 block of Newhall Ranch Road at 10:00 pm. The victim was approached by the suspect who demanded to see his bike. When the victim told the suspect no, the suspect became angry and hit the victim in the head with his fist. The suspect took off with the victim’s bike in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

An attempted burglary occurred on the 23400 block of Winslow Place. Suspect(s) unknown attempted to gain access into the home by removing the screens off the windows. The alarm on the home was activated so no entry was made.

Two vehicle burglaries occurred on the 24000 block of Magic Mountain Parkway between the hours of 9:30 pm and 6:30 am. Both vehicles had their driver’s side window smashed by an unknown object. Items stolen were clothing and snowboard equipment. All items were left in the backseat area visible from outside of the vehicles.

A theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred on the 28000 block of Newhall Ranch Road between the hours of 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm. The victim left the vehicle unlocked. The item stolen was a book bag containing a Mac Book tablet which was on the floor board of the front seat area.

With holiday shopping here, I urge everyone to please take careful steps to not become a victim. If you are shopping at night, try and park your vehicles in well-lit areas. Be mindful of your surroundings. Take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle. Do not leave valuables such as purses, wallets or cell phones unattended in public areas like shopping carts, benches or counters.

There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included grand theft, drunk in public, and shoplifting from local businesses.
