Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital invites the community to give the gift of life by donating blood during its winter blood drive.
The drive will be held on Tuesday, December 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Henry Mayo Center, Rooms 6 and 7, located on the hospital’s campus at 23803 McBean Parkway, Valencia.
(See hospital campus map on the website at henrymayo.com.) Photo ID is required.
Every day, thousands of people rely on blood donors to help them maintain optimum health. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital partners with the American Red Cross to host six blood drives each year on the hospital campus. Blood collected at Henry Mayo is processed by the American Red Cross and dedicated to the hospital. That means that the blood is returned to the hospital for patient use.
The American Red Cross has an urgent need for donors of all blood types, especially type O, to give blood in support of patients in hospitals now. Right now, Red Cross blood products are being distributed to hospitals as quickly as donations come in, according to Red Cross officials.
As a special thank you, all presenting donors will receive a Red Cross Donor T-shirt. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
In addition to on-campus blood drives, the American Red Cross hosts drives throughout the community with dozens of businesses, schools, and community organizations. The blood collected at these hospital affiliate drives is also dedicated to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. For each unit of blood collected at these drives, the hospital receives a credit towards its blood purchases.
To make an appointment, please call (800) Red-Cross or register online at redcrossblood.org and enter in sponsor code henrymayo.
