Feb. 1: ARTree – Figure Drawing at ARTree Community Arts Center
Feb. 01, 6:00 p.m.

Are you an artist frustrated with the lack of opportunities to draw in Santa Clarita? Come to ARTree Community Arts Center for a chance to really explore your creative potential, using a live model. Just drop in and bring a pencil and paper.

Every 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Thursdays of the month (with additional dates added for November and December).

Feb 1: 10 by 10 Variety Night at The MAIN
Feb 01, 7:00 p.m.

Join us for 10 by 10, the FREE monthly variety show in Old Town Newhall. 10 by 10 features music, film, storytelling, magic, comedy and more! It occurs on the first Thursday of every month when 10 performers, from a variety of genres, are selected to perform a 10-minute piece of their choosing. Every month is different; you never know what you will see on stage!

Performing in February: Storytelling from Shelly Martin, James Gangl, and Julia Pels; Comedy from Marty Ross the “Wrinkled Rebel”; Music from Grit, Nick Goodman, Jaynee Thorne, and The New Mexican; Magic from Doug Hoover; and the Film Short “Inksect.” Visit the 10 by 10 website for performer bios.

Feb 2: The Music Man at Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons

ESCAPE Theatre presents “The Music Man”. Enjoy over 315 talented youth and teens in this funny, warm, romantic and touching production! This is family-friendly story that should be shared with every generation, and people from age 5-99. Meredith Willson’s Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957. There is “TROUBLE in River City”, when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Enjoy tunes such as 76 Trombones, Gary Indiana, Shipoopi, Trouble, and Till There was You. Don’t miss out on “The Music Man” with ESCAPE Theatre. Call 299-5264 for tickets.

Feb 2: Comedy Mashup Presents Krista Allen! at The MAIN
Feb 02, 8:00 p.m.

Comedy Mashup is celebrating the month of love with the lovely comedic headliner, Krista Allen, a sought after actress who has starred in such film and television as Liar Liar, Anger Management, Bay Watch, and Days of Our Lives. When Krista isn’t on screen she brings her witty and bright personality to the stand-up comedy scene at many Los Angeles venues including the Laugh Factory; she also devotes her time to her podcast “I’m Fine,” where she and celebrity guests explore their own personal debaucheries while diving into the perplexing world of self-help. Tonight’s improv features Your Favorite Cast keeping things light and funny with a variety of scenes and games.

A little more about the cast: Comedy Mashup is a group of working comedians and improvisers from all over the Valley and Hollywood that come together once a month to put on a show that is one half stand up and the other half improv comedy. The improvisers work in the television, movie and theme park industries as well as the following venues: iO West, UCB and The Groundlings. The comedians work weekly at some of the biggest clubs in Los Angeles: The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, Pasadena Ice House and Flappers.

Feb. 3: ARTree – Flutterby Open Art Studio at ARTree Community Arts Center

Flutterby is a no-charge open art studio held on the first Saturday of each month, for kids and their parents to come in and make some art. All art materials are provided! No prior registration necessary, just drop in!

Feb 3: Snow Queen at Canyon Theatre Guild

Filled with heart, adventure and laughter, The Snow Queen is sure to charm audiences young and old alike!

Based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, The Snow Queen tells the tale of Gerda, a young girl who searches for her friend Kai after he is bewitched and imprisoned by the Snow Queen. On her journey, her innocence charms the good people and animals of the land, who end up aiding her on her quest to rescue her friend.
