“Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” opened at the Canyon Theatre Guild last weekend to sold-out houses and on-their-feet crowds, and will rock Main Street in Old Town Newhall again this Saturday night.
The stage production is packed with classic hits by the first-generation 1950s rock ‘n’ roll legend, like “That’ll Be the Day,” “Peggy Sue” and “Everyday.” The play traces Holly’s life from local Texas hero to international superstar.
Holly died on Feb. 3, 1959 in a plane crash in Iowa. It was also the “day the music died,” as songwriter Don McLean would reflect a decade-plus later.

Went last Sunday, what a great show. The cast was awesome and very enthusiastic. The music outstanding. I would recommend it to everybody. Our entire audience was quite pleased with the performance. I’ve never been disappointed with any of the musicals I’ve seen here. ?????
Awesome and amazing! Definitely a must see!
My wife & I saw the last performance yesterday, what a great production! The entire cast, but especially the young man as Buddy Holly!
