Los Angeles County firefighters made quick work of a quarter-acre blaze that burned grass in the vicinity of last week’s fire south of Newhall Avenue between Sierra Highway and the 14 Freeway.

The fire was reported at 1:02 p.m. and personnel were on scene by 1:07 p.m.

The fire burned a hillside between Clampitt Road and the freeway.

Officials said the recent rainfall made it easy work for firefighters, since the brush is not as dry and the humidity levels are up.

The fire was completely contained as of 1:21 p.m. and water-dropping helicopters, which scooped water from the Van Norman reservoir, were called off.

A Sigalert was issued for the three right lanes of southbound SR-14. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
