Anthony Stewart Cerna, 28, of Santa Clarita, was arrested for allegedly sparking a small brush fire by setting off fireworks near a home at 18390 Cedar Valley Way in Canyon Country Tuesday afternoon, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
“Yesterday at 2:54 p.m., we received a call of a structure fire,” Lt. Chuck Becerra, station Watch Commander, told SCV News Wednesday. “As we arrived we found the front yard, a truck and part of a hillside engulfed in flames.
“Our preliminary investigation determined the occupants of that residence were playing with fireworks,” Becerra said. “They ignited a firework accidentally setting the fire and causing upward of $55,000 in damage.
“We arrested the person who lit the fireworks, and the case is currently being investigated by our Arson and Explosives detail,” he said.
Cerna was charged with recklessly igniting several types of incendiary devices, Becerra said, and was booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
“The case is now being investigated by our Arson and Explosives detail,” Becerra said.

I used to live across the street from those guys. They were always setting off fireworks.
Just for the record, that’s technically in Newhall not in Canyon Country.
Good. I hope they make more arrests.
It’s not the fourth of July and idiots abound
