Updates 8:30 p.m.:
CHP is routing I-5 traffic up San Francisquito Canyon Road to Elizabeth Lake Road to Johnson Road and into Lancaster.
Elizabeth Lake Road east of Godde Hill Road is impassable.
San Francisquito Canyon Road is open all the way from Copper Hill to Elizabeth Lake Road, but expect lots of mud.
One lane of Bouquet Canyon Road *might* be open to 4-wheel drive vehicles north of Spunky Canyon Road.
Los Angeles County Public Works crews expect it to take a few days to clear away all of the mud.

Emergency officials are reporting flash flooding in the Lake Hughes area.
California Highway Patrol officials have closed San Francisquito Canyon Road from Elizabeth Lake Road to Spunky Canyon Road.
CHP is also closing Elizabeth Lake Road at Bouquet Canyon Road because of 5 to 6 inches of water on the road. Elizabeth Lake Road in the vicinity of Godde Hill Road is overtaken with mud and debris, hindering emergency crews that are trying to get to people who are stranded in the area, including some who are stuck in cars.
The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a flash flood/ thunderstorm warning for north central Los Angeles County including Lancaster, Palmdale, Leona Valley, Highway 14 and Highway 138.
The storm is capable of producing quarter size hail, damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, very heavy rainfall and frequent lightning, according to the warning.
If you are in the path of this storm, prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building and away from windows, according to the report. Heavy rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the road.

My office is monitoring the situation closely and is ready to work with the Governor’s office to ensure the state’s full resources are utilized to help Los Angeles County. All kinds of rescues out that way. They showed on the news pictures of cars stuck in the mud. Also hearing of homes flooding and people stranded in Quartz hill, lake Hughes, and green valley. Also they said a school is flooded and people are trapped inside classrooms

Yes it’s called pulse point. It’s free to download and for green valley you should follow LAC-D5 and if you want to LAC-D3 since d3 is SCV and la Canada area and d5 is antelope valley

My fear is that with this rain season coming, if it’s as bad as predicted, that there well be a flood equal to when the Mulholland Dam broke a century ago that killed the entire community that lived below it

It’s going to be super crazy during winter with el Nino.
Central Leona Valley rain gauge indicated 1.71 inches of rain in just a little more than 60 minutes. It was accompanied by large marble size hail. My husband is still trying to repair our 400 feet long dirt driveway which pretty much disappeared during the last heavy storm a few weeks ago. All to do again.
