Foothill League soccer is coming into a final flurry of league matches that will sort out standings. Team schedules show a stretch of four, five or six league games ahead, but a couple boys schedules seem to have lost track of the need for each team to play the other six teams in league two times each. Hopefully, those boys schedules will catch up as standings solidify in the final stretch.

BOYS

Saugus (9-3-1, 7-0)

The Centurions lost to non-league TPAA 0-1 on Jan. 12, but then beat Castaic 5-1 on Jan. 15 to remain undefeated in league play.

Entering a five-game stretch to finish out league action, Saugus will host Canyon at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and then host Valencia on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

Valencia (6-4-2, 4-2)

Since our last look, the Vikings beat Golden Valley 3-0 on Jan. 13. That moves Valencia into second place in league.

With six league matches left to play, Valencia first visits Hart at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, then visits Saugus at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22. Standings should solidify a bit after that.

Hart (4-2-4, 2-1-3)

It seems the Hart Hawks came back from holiday break a bit rusty, tying both West Ranch 0-0 on Jan. 13 and then Canyon 0-0 on Jan. 15. Thus, the team slipped a spot in league standings.

Entering the final stretch in league play, Hart first hosts Valencia at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

West Ranch (5-5-2, 3-3-1)

West Ranch tied Hart 0-0 on Jan. 13 and then lost to Golden Valley 2-3 on Jan. 15.

In the first match of its final-game push, West Ranch hosts Canyon at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Golden Valley (6-5-1, 3-3-1)

The Golden Valley Grizzlies lost to Valencia 0-3 on Jan. 13 and then beat West Ranch 3-2 on Jan. 15.

The schedule currently shows Golden Valley taking a breather until hosting Hart on Jan. 27. That might change because the schedule is short one game against Castaic.

Canyon (2-11-3, 0-5-2)

The Cowboys tied Castaic 1-1 on Jan. 13 and then tied Hart 0-0 on Jan. 15. These results move Canyon ahead of Castaic in league.

Canyon now enters a five-league-game stretch with the first on Jan. 20 visiting Saugus and the second visiting West Ranch on Jan. 22. Both are at 5 p.m.

Castaic (0-8-2, 0-5-1)

The Castaic Coyotes tied Canyon 1-1 on Jan. 13 and then lost to Saugus 1-5 on Jan. 15.

The Castaic schedule shows only two more league matches, which does not compute with the need to play 12 league matches in total. Hopefully, the schedule will right itself soon.

GIRLS

Hart (9-7, 7-0)

Hart continues undefeated in league play after beating West Ranch 4-0 on Jan. 13 and then taking down Canyon 2-0 on Jan. 15.

The Hawks enter the five-league-game-finish visiting Valencia on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m.

Saugus (9-4-2, 6-1)

Saugus lost to non-league Newport Harbor 0-2 on Jan. 13 and then beat Castaic 4-0 on Jan 15 to remain just below Hart in league.

With five league matches remaining, Saugus visits Canyon on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and then visits Valencia on Thursday, Jan. 22. Both games are at 5 p.m.

Valencia (3-5-2, 3-2-1)

The Vikings blew up Golden Valley 10-0 on Jan. 13 to move into third place in league.

Entering a six-league-game stretch, Valencia will have home matches against Hart on Tuesday,  Jan. 20 and Saugus on Thursday, Jan. 22. Both are at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/valencia/valencia-vikings/soccer/girls/winter/

West Ranch (5-5-2, 3-3-1)

The Wildcats lost to Hart 0-4 on  Jan. 13 and then took it out on Golden Valley 10-0 on Jan. 15.

With five league games left to play, West Ranch will visit Castaic at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and then visit Canyon at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/valencia/west-ranch-wildcats/soccer/girls/winter/

Castaic (4-5, 3-4)

The Coyotes beat Canyon 3-2 on Jan. 13 and then lost to Saugus 0-4 on Jan. 15.

With five league matches to come, Castaic first hosts West Ranch on Jan. 20 and then visits Golden Valley on Jan. 22. Both are at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/castaic/castaic-coyotes/soccer/girls/winter/

Canyon (4-9-1, 1-6)

The Cowboys lost to Castaic 2-3 on Jan. 13 and then lost to Hart 0-2 on Jan. 15.

Canyon will begin its five-game league finish hosting Saugus on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. and West Ranch on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/canyon-country/canyon-cowboys/soccer/girls/winter/schedule/

Golden Valley (1-16-2, 0-7)

The Golden Valley defense continued to be porous, letting in 10 goals each to Valencia on Jan. 13 and West Ranch on Jan. 15. Meanwhile, the GV offense put up two goose eggs.

The Grizzlies have a non-league match away against Heritage Christian on Monday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. Following that is a home game against Castaic at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22.
