Former College of the Canyons outfielder Corbin Williams has signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies after being selected in last month’s Major League Baseball first-year player draft.

Williams was selected by the Phillies in the 24th round (707th pick) after just one season with the Cougars.

A graduate of Pete Knight High School in Palmdale, Williams was an All-Western State Conference (WSC) Second Team honoree.

In his freshman year at COC the speedy center fielder finished the season with a .311 batting average, 25 runs, eight stolen bases and a .368 on-base percentage across 132 at-bats.

He also took home conference Golden Glove honors.
