Four Santa Clarita Valley non-profit arts organizations have been awarded a total of $78,300 in grants by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

Canyon Theatre Guild will receive $27,400; the Santa Clarita Ballet, $20,900; the Santa Clarita Master Chorale, $17,400; and the SCV Youth Orchestra Foundation, $12,600.

The Commission is distributing $4,518,000 in two-year grants to 196 non-profit arts organizations through its Organization Grant Program.

The program provides support to ensure arts organizations are able to provide cultural services for the diverse population that comprises Los Angeles County.

Grant amounts range from $3,100 to $152,600. Grantee organizations provide services throughout L.A. County with offices located in 46 of the County’s 88 municipalities. Eleven percent of the organizations funded are receiving county arts grants for the first time.

The Arts Commission provides most applicants with the flexibility to request support for their current critical needs, rather than require they request support for specific types of projects.

“Arts and cultural organizations throughout LA County provide direct access, increased opportunities, and often free or low-cost arts activities and programming,” said Pamela Bright-Moon, Arts Commission president. “Through the ongoing funding commitment of the Board of Supervisors, OGP is able to support organizations that are making a tremendous impact for residents, neighborhoods and communities Countywide.”

Applications were reviewed and scored by more than 70 knowledgeable panelists from the arts community, including artists, nonprofit arts administrators and members of the academic community.
