A member of the U.S. armed forces and a representative of Santa Clarita families with a son or daughter who died while serving his country will place the star atop the Christmas tree at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in preparation for this Sunday’s official Community Tree Lighting Festival.
The tree, located on the front lawn of the hospital at 23845 McBean Parkway, will sport more than 3,000 lights and hundreds of ornaments, placed there by hospital staff members and volunteers with support from employees of Andy Gump Inc.
The public tree lighting festival will take place Sunday, Dec. 4, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will include holiday entertainment, children’s activities and crafts, and photos with Santa Claus – who will magically light the tree at 5 p.m.
