Rep.-elect Katie Hill (D-Santa Clarita) announced Thursday that she will have individual district offices serving the Antelope, Simi and Santa Clarita Valleys, in order to ensure all communities in the district have critical access to the services they need and the representation they deserve.
In addition to these three offices, Rep.-elect Hill has selected both her Chief of Staff, Emily Burns, and District Director, Angela Giacchetti.
“Through the many months of my campaign, I’ve listened to feedback from communities in every corner of the district, and I’m ready to get to work,” Hill said. “It’s important that my team is able to hit the ground running on day one, and that we don’t miss a beat in providing excellent services to the people who are counting on us.”
Representative-elect Hill selected Emily Burns as her Chief of Staff, responsible for leading her D.C. and district teams in service of her constituents and achievement of her legislative goals.
A purpose-driven leader with eight years of policymaking experience, Burns most recently served as Chief of Staff to Congressman John Garamendi (CA-03). She brings an in-depth knowledge of the House Armed Services Committee, the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, and the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, helping to develop landmark legislation like the five-year transportation authorization bill passed in 2015 and the defense authorization acts passed annually by Congress.
Burns was named 2015 Legislative Staff Person of the Year by the Professional Engineers in California Government, and also brings a track record of excellence in branding hundreds of private-sector companies.
Selected as the District Director, Angela Giacchetti served as Regional Field Director in Hill’s Congressional race. Prior to her campaign experience, Giacchetti’s background in marketing and communications brings together the best of the business and nonprofit sectors.
Giacchetti has a proven track record of growing engaged communities, scaling operations, and working collaboratively to launch successful programs at organizations like Eventbrite and Planned Parenthood. Giacchetti is a cum laude honors graduate of the State University of New York at Purchase College where she earned a BA in Gender Studies and Political Science and has had the honor of speaking at Indie Media Camp, Social Media Week, the Planned Parenthood Truth Tour, and more.
Both Burns and Giacchetti organized events in the Santa Clarita, Simi and Antelope Valleys and bring with them a love for the district and an understanding of its communities. Together they look forward to building the infrastructure and team necessary to serve the diverse and engaged communities of the 25th Congressional District.
Katie Hill is the Congresswoman-elect from California’s 25th Congressional District, serving the Antelope, Simi, and Santa Clarita Valleys. The daughter of a registered nurse and police officer, Hill most recently worked as Executive Director of PATH (People Assisting The Homeless), the largest homeless services organization in California. Under Hill’s leadership, in just four years PATH helped more than 7,000 chronically homeless individuals, veterans, and families make it off the streets into permanent housing. She was elected by her colleagues to be the Freshman Co-Representative to Leadership in the 116th Congress and was the first Member-elect to present the Democratic Weekly Address. Hill is an experienced change-maker working to give a voice to her community.
