With the rise of social media, creating and maintaining an online presence can become an overwhelming juggling act for many new business owners and entrepreneurs.

With that in mind, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted by College of the Canyons will present the 2014 Jump Start Your Business event on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center.

“This unique event gives business owners and entrepreneurs the opportunity to get instruction from industry experts in a wide variety of social media tools, all at one time and at one location,” said SBDC Director Steve Tannehill.

The free mega marketing event will be divided into three breakout sessions. Attendees can choose to attend three of the following 50-minute workshops:

* Create Email Marketing that Rocks

* Social Media Marketing Campaigns

* Introduction to WordPress

* Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

* Analytics—Measuring Your Marketing Return on Investment

* YouTube—Video Marketing Success Secrets

* Get Your Business on Google Places

* Microsoft Web Tools

* Photography Tips and Tricks for Online Marketing

“We are very excited to be able to provide this kind of comprehensive, multi-faceted training at no cost to the local small business community,” said SBDC Training Coordinator Shelley Weinstein.

The event will kickoff at 8:45 a.m. in Room UCEN 258 with workshops taking place starting at 9 a.m. in various breakout session rooms until 12:10 p.m.

A continental breakfast, sponsored by Cielo Live/Work Townhomes at Villa Metro, will be served.

The SBDC hosted by College of the Canyons was launched in January 2006. SBDC business advisors assist prospective and existing small business owners start, grow or expand their businesses by providing workshops, one-on-one consulting, trainings and other resources to the business community.

The SBDC’s main offices are located in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center on the College of the Canyons Valencia campus.

SBDC services are also available at nine satellite locations throughout the San Fernando and Antelope Valleys.

    Looks like a great event. Are you going to video record any of the sessions so people can check them out on the internet if they can’t make the sessions live?
