LAKE ELSINORE – Brandon Gold struck out eight over seven scoreless innings to lead the Lancaster JetHawks over the Lake Elsinore Storm 4-0 on Saturday night at The Diamond.

The JetHawks bookended the series with wins to earn a split of the four-game set. Gold (2-0) threw 100 pitches, 71 for strikes. He allowed four hits and did not issue a walk. The right-hander has not walked a single batter in 19 innings with Lancaster.

The only small bit of trouble Gold ran into came in the second inning, when Lake Elsinore put runners on first and second with nobody out, but failed to score. In every other inning, Gold set down at least the first two hitters of the frame. He had three perfect innings.

Roberto Ramos and Collin Ferguson each blasted solo homers in the second inning to put the JetHawks on the board. Both long balls went to the opposite field in left. Lancaster added an unearned run in the third.

Ferguson provided an insurance run for the JetHawks with an RBI single in the ninth. He finished 3-for-4 in the contest and is now hitting .480 in his first eight games with Lancaster.

Marc Magliaro tossed the final two innings to pick up his first save. He retired all six batters he faced and struck out one.

Jake Esch (1-2) suffered the loss despite throwing a complete game for Lake Elsinore. He allowed three earned runs on nine hits and struck out three.

The JetHawks out-hit Lake Elsinore, 10-4. The game was played in just two hours and 16 minutes.
