Considered one of the greatest rock operas in history since its Broadway debut in 1971, “”Jesus Christ Superstar”” will make its Santa Clarita Valley debut on the stage at The Repertory East Playhouse on July 10. The first musical collaboration for the professional stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this timeless work tells the story of the last seven days of the life of Jesus Christ from the perspective of one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot.

Borrowing from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, this show embraces the passion of the times with some modern-day twists and has thrilled millions of theatergoers for more than 40 years. This production is sponsored by Wildflour Bakery and Friedman, Thompson & Co. and in part by a grant from the City of Santa Clarita.

Under the co-direction of Kimbyrly Valis and Rick Pratt, the cast includes Benjamin Patrick Thomas as Jesus Christ, Adam Duarte as Judas, Natasha Gaston as Mary Magdalene, Chris Loprete as Pontius Pilate, Paul Nieman as Caiaphas, Ally Loprete as Annas, Alex Bowman as Peter and Mike Davies as King Herod. A strong ensemble completes the cast, including Eriel Brown, Tara Cox, Laura Norkin, Marie Claire Erdynast, Danielle Honeyman, Michael Gilbertson, Sean Goodman and Bruce Robinson.

“Jesus Christ Superstar” will run July 10 through August 15. Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. This show is expected to SELL OUT! Advanced reservations are highly recommended.
