Here’s a roundup of events from Santa Clarita Arts for the week of July 12-14, 2017, including a grant writing workshop, a figure drawing class, the Arts Commission’s meeting at City Hall, “Note by Note” at The MAIN, summer movies at Hart Park, Summer Sunset concerts at Valencia Marketplace, and the Shakespeare Festival’s opening event.

New Heights: Grant Writing at The Centre

At this panel, two successful grant writers share tips and techniques to help grant writers navigate their way through the grant proposal process. They will show you how to write innovative proposals that are aligned with your goals, illustrate ways to present accurate budget details, and provide you with many other resources. Additionally, you will learn effective ways to match your organizations needs and goals with appropriate funding sources. This panel discussion will give tips and hints for both the experienced and novice grant writers.

The panel includes Murray Wood (Chief Development Officer, College of the Canyons Foundation) and Charles Flowers (Deputy Directory of Arts for LA).

For more information, contact the Commission Secretary at (661) 286-4018. The five-member Arts Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Members of the public wishing to address the commission may do so by completing a speaker’s slip upon arrival at the meeting. There is a three minute time limit per person.

Note by Note at The MAIN

Listen to both well-established and new and emerging singer songwriter’s at Note by Note, the FREE monthly songwriter’s night in Old Town Newhall. Note by Note is a chance for professional and aspiring songwriters to showcase their songs in front of a live audience and an opportunity for fans to hear new music. Each songwriter selected will perform four original songs of their own composition.

Performing in June: JC Hyke, Matt Stone, Ryan Matthey, and Non Duo

Summer Movies in the Park at William S. Hart Park

This year we honor Dr. Marc Winger, Former Superintendent, Newhall School District.

Dinner, Wine, Dessert & Celebration, and a preview of the events for the LA SummerFEST.

Join us for this wonderful event, honoring a community arts patron, and celebrate the opening of the 8th annual LA SummerFEST.

All proceeds support the free performances during the LA SummerFest, and Santa Clarita Shakespeare’s Educational Outreach Program.
