Julie Crouch watercolor demo will be held on the Monday, June 17, meeting of the Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA). This event is free, open to the public and meets at 6:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 23630 Valencia Blvd.
“When I retired from practicing law in 2002, I started taking watercolor classes and haven’t put my brushes down since,” said Crouch. “I am in LOVE with watercolor! I am enamored with color, especially when the colors mix on the paper in unexpected ways. I rein myself in by paying attention to value, letting the colors flow.”
Crouch teaches watercolor weekly at the City of San Gabriel Community Services Department and at Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre, CA. She is on Mid-Valley Arts League and has also served on the Board of National Watercolor Society. She is a Signature Member of Watercolor West and in Western Colorado Watercolor Society. Her work has been juried into several national exhibitions and she received the Valley Watercolor Society Top Honors Award in their 2012 and 2015 juried exhibitions. See www.juliecrouchart.com.
A graduate of UCLA and Loyola Law School, she has studied with most of the well-known watercolorists: Gerald Brommer, Frank Eber, Tom Fong, Frank Francese, Fealing Lin, Barbara Nechis, Carl Purcell, Brenda Swenson, Mel Stabin, Joseph Stoddard, Christine Sullivan, Chris Van Winkle and others.
Come early, standing room only by 6:30 pm. For more info on the artclub, see: www.SantaClaritaArtists.org.
