Kaiser Permanente’s Community Benefit Grants Program supports organizations that are working to improve health locally. Grants are awarded annually to non-profit organizations committed to expanding access to care for lower-income and uninsured individuals, improving education, prevention, early detection, treatment of chronic diseases, and efforts to promote healthy eating and active living to combat increased obesity rates through medical, environmental, and social changes.
“Our physicians and employees in the Santa Clarita Valley are proud to support our local non-profit organizations with these grants,” says Physician-In-Charge David Wong, MD. “Through partnerships with these groups, we are working to benefit the community at large by addressing issues and concerns that affect its overall health.”
This year, Kaiser Permanente has announced grants totaling $62,626 to various non-profit organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley:
o        Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley received $10,000 to support “Triple-Play,” a three-pronged (mind-body-soul) comprehensive health, fitness, and wellness initiative for at-risk youth at their club locations in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Bridge to Home received $9,626 to support a Health Navigator to coordinate healthcare for uninsured, homeless individuals and families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Carousel Ranch received $4,000 to support equestrian therapy and exercise for lower-income children with physical disabilities at risk for obesity in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Child & Family Center received $15,000 to support the expansion of a school-based mental health program for lower-income, at-risk youths and their families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Samuel Dixon Family Health Center received $7,000 to provide access to extensive dental services for lower-income, uninsured families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center received $5,000 to support case management, health and wellness programming and screenings, and chronic disease education for lower-income seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Single Mother’s Outreach received $7,000 to support case management to help address the social service and mental health needs of low-income single mother-headed households in the Santa Clarita Valley.
o        Special Olympics Southern California received $5,000 to support year-round sports, health, and fitness programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities at risk for obesity in the Santa Clarita Valley.
