Representative Steve Knight (CA-25) was selected to serve as Chairman of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and the Workforce. Congressman Knight is to lead the subcommittee on contracting and workforce.
Knight, who served on the subcommittee last Congress, was chosen for the position by House Small Business Committee Chairman Steve Chabot (OH-1) on Monday.
“Over the last two years, Rep. Knight has shown a true dedication to understanding all the ways small business can save taxpayer dollars and finding more opportunities to bring them to the table,” said Chairman Chabot. “His work on our Committee and on the Armed Services Committee makes him the best possible choice to lead this subcommittee, and I know he’ll continue to lead by example.”
The Subcommittee’s purpose is to assess the federal procurement system, including those programs designed specifically to enhance participation by small businesses in providing goods and services to the federal government. In his first term Knight authored two pieces in the Subcommittee’s jurisdiction: the Small Business Joint Venturing Act, which allows small businesses to form joint ventures and work together to obtain and fulfill government contracts, and the Mentor-Protégé Cooperation Reform Act, which simplifies the qualification process for small businesses that are eligible to participate in the Department of Defense’s Mentor-Protégé program.
“I am honored for this appointment and I thank Chairman Chabot for giving me this opportunity,” continued Knight. “This Chairmanship will allow us to continue to find new ways to improve our procurement and contracting programs, which will save taxpayers money and increase opportunities for small businesses in our community.”

Congratulations Steve,
Your focus and dedication to helping small business and our Country is in full view.
Representative Chabot hasn’t held a town hall since August. Why is he hiding from his constituents?
