[KHTS] – The second annual “Light Up Main Street” event will be held Saturday in Old Town Newhall.
Santa Clarita Valley residents can get into the holiday spirit with the all-day, free event “Light Up Main Street,” which will feature food trucks, holiday music, a visit from Santa and lots of lights.
“The trees along Main Street will be sparkling with twinkle lights, and two skylines over the street will feature Santa and his reindeer plus a festive ‘Season’s Greetings’ message,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “In front of the Old Town Newhall Library, a 23-foot-tall, fully decorated Christmas tree is being erected, providing plenty of space for photos.”
From 3- 6 p.m., shops are expected to be open for a “Sip and Shop” activity, where stores will be offering customers a variety of refreshments and specials, according to officials.
At 6:30 p.m., city officials will turn on the lights.
“All of the lights will be turned on at the exact same time,” said city spokeswoman Gail Morgan. “So it will really be something to see.”
The stores will remain open after the lighting, and there will be a variety of entertainment and food trucks, according to Morgan.
“Special thanks to our partners, PayForward, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and the Santa Clarita Valley Auto Dealers for their sponsorship,” added Weste.
