Residents seeking tubular art will want to visit the newest art exhibit in the First Floor Gallery at City Hall called “It’s Like, Totally Rad Art.” The exhibit opens on Thursday, Mar. 1 and features a variety of art influenced by the 1980s.
The community is also invited to an art reception celebrating the opening of the gallery on Saturday, Mar. 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy light appetizers, music and will have a chance to meet the artists featured in the exhibition.
“It’s Like, Totally Rad Art” is on display in conjunction with the Santa Clarita Public Library’s One Story One City program, which is celebrating the novel “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline throughout the month of March. Pop culture from the 1980s is featured extensively in the book and the art to be displayed will feature, highlight or use design elements from the 1980s, as well as iconic pop culture figures, historic events and more. A classic arcade game machine will also be on display for guests to try their hand at 1980s video games.
The First Floor Gallery in City Hall is located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard. City Hall business hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The “It’s Like, Totally Rad Art” exhibit will be on display until June 1, 2018.
